Sin: Committed By Man ~ Hated By God ~ Forgiven By Jesus Pt. 1 The Fall Of Man
All throughout scripture we see that God hates sin. When time began and man was created there was no separation between man and God which meant there was no sin in the world. From the point in time when Adam and Eve sinned though we see the separation between humans and God, otherwise known as the fall of man. Also we see from the beginning that God punishes sinners for their sin. In Genesis 2:16-17 God tells Adam that he can eat of any tree of the garden, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”, is off completely off limits. Now we all know that if someone tells us not to do something, as human beings we want to do exactly what we have been told not to do. Later in the chapter God created woman from the rib of man. I'm not sure whether God created Eve with a knowledge of what He had told Adam or if Adam relayed the message to her, but as we will see in the next chapter Eve knows even though God gave Adam the command before she was created. Chapter 3 opens with Satan entering the scene as the crafty, lying serpent. When the serpent tries to con Eve into eating the forbidden fruit she resists telling Satan what God told Adam would happen were they to eat the fruit of that tree. The serpent replies by telling Eve, “Ye shall not surely die”, and that when they did eat the fruit they would have the wisdom to know good and evil. Eve then believed the serpent and ate of the forbidden fruit and gave some to Adam. As soon as they ate the fruit they knew they had sinned and hid themselves in the garden. When God came walking through the garden He called for Adam and asked him why they were hiding to which Adam replied because they knew they were naked. At this point the blame game begins. Adam says it was Eve who gave him of the fruit, then when God asks Eve she replies that the serpent made her do it. Now beginning in Genesis 3:14 and going through verse 21 we see how God punished all parties involved. First comes the punishment of the serpent whom God told that he would be cursed, crawl on his belly and eat dust the rest of his life. Next God said there would be strife between man and the serpent. For the punishment of Adam and Eve we read that there would be pain in childbirth, that man would be over his wife, and that man would have to work to get food unlike in the garden. For the final punishment we read that Adam and Eve were cast from the garden and were never allowed to return. Even though God punished them for their wrongdoing he still showed them compassion by giving them coats of skins. That just goes to show that even though we mess up God still loves us.
